Hibernate Spatial not creating Oracle points using SDO_POINT field?

John Cartwright
Hello All,

It appears to me that point geometries persisted with Hibernate Spatial 1.1.1 are not using the Oracle-recommended SDO_POINT field, i.e. they're stored as

SDO_GEOMETRY(2001, 4326, NULL, SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1, 1, 1), SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(-179.999, 25))

rather than

SDO_GEOMETRY(2001, 4326, SDO_POINT_TYPE(-179.999, 25, NULL), NULL, NULL)

Is this to be expected?

Thanks!

I wasn't aware of this. The recommended geometry would be better. Searching on "HIBSPA SDO_POINT_TYPE" found a few issues, http://www.hibernatespatial.org/jira/browse/HIBSPA-21 seems to apply here.

Re: Hibernate Spatial not creating Oracle points using SDO_POINT field?

Karel Maesen

Hi,

I never got around to implementing Points using the SDO_POINT field. It is something that I will consider on the next iteration of the Oracle support in HS.

Regards,

Karel
